An arrest has been made in the twentieth homicide case of 2019.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has made an arrest in the homicide of 32-year-old Justin Silicz, who was murdered June 2, 2019.

Keishawn Letrell Mitchell was arrested June 27 for the murder of Silicz. The 19-year-old has been charged with Second Degree Murder and remains detained in custody.

Silicz was assaulted in the area of Arlington Street and Notre Dame Avenue in the early hours of June 2. Members of the WPS located him injured at the scene upon arrival and he was transported to hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.

Police believe at this time that the attack was random in nature.

Police say that investigators and Silicz's family wish to thank the public for assisting in the case through their response to requests for information.
