Some capacity changes are coming for places of worship next week.

The province of Manitoba's latest COVID-19 health orders shows loosening restrictions in places of worship.

"This is a very modest loosening of these restrictions," Dr. Brent Roussin, the chief public health officer for Manitoba, says in the Wednesday press conference with Premier Heather Stefanson.

The orders go into effect Tuesday, lasting two weeks.

"We have a ministerial working group that works very closely with stakeholders in the community including our faith-based community," Stefanson says. "We're in constant contact with them about the orders, as well as they reach out. From time to time we reach out to them as we do with stakeholders."

Indoors

Faith gatherings are permitted the largest indoor gathering sizes in Manitoba for people without proof of vaccination.

If proof of being fully vaccinated is not required, indoor services can have a maximum of 25 per cent capacity or 250 people.

If proof of vaccination is required, a 50 per cent capacity maximum is required, without a total person capacity limit.

Cohorts are not required in either instance.

Outdoors

If proof of vaccination is not required, outdoor faith gatherings have a maximum of 50 per cent capacity of the outdoor location's limit.

If proof of full vaccination is required, there is a 50 per cent capacity maximum for the usual capacity limit of the space.
