After a collision with a vehicle on July 31, a 20 year old female has passed away on August 6.

Winnipeg Police Service says, "At approximately 1:55 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at a crosswalk located on Sargent Avenue at Simcoe Street."

The female pedestrian was crossing Sargent Avenue when she was struck by a westbound vehicle.

WPS says, "The pedestrian was transported to hospital in critical condition where she remained."

An 89-year-old male of Winnipeg was arrested at the scene and may face charges depending on the outcome of the investigation, says WPS.

WPS says, "On August 6, 2019, the Winnipeg Police Service was notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries"

Constable Jay Murray of the WPS says, "So far this year, there have been eight pedestrian deaths involved in a motor vehicle collision over the course of 7 collisions.

"We’ve seen a number of serious or fatal motor vehicle collisions this year that involve pedestrians, cyclists and motorists - including motorcycles. All users of our roadways share a responsibility to keep each other safe."
