Beloved pastor H. H. Barber died early Saturday morning at the age of 98, according to his family.

Barber was the Senior Pastor of Calvary Temple in Winnipeg from 1953-1997.

Over the course of that time, he became well-known through the broadcasts of his sermons, both on radio and television, including on many Golden West radio stations.

"At 12:45 am this morning (Saturday, October 24, 2020) Dad crossed over Jordan into the land of eternal day," Barber's son, Pastor Jim Barber, says in an online post.

"He was 98 years, 4 months and a day.  On Wednesday morning he had been admitted to the same floor and unit at Calvary Place Personal Care Home where Mom has been living for four years so they had been able to see each other."

Jim clarifies in the post that Barber did not have COVID-19.

"Thank you for your love for Dad as well as your share in the great work the Lord entrusted to him.  Thank you also for your prayers for our family."

The family says that a small graveside service will take place for family due to COVID-19 restrictions.  A video tribute for broadcast will be released at a later date.
