A Winnipeg organization is filling up backpacks to help kids go back to school.  The Manitoba Chiropractors Association has partnered with the Salvation Army for the Pack It Light, Wear It Right backpack program.

The MCA has donated 300 new backpacks and the Salvation Army is hoping to fill them up with school supplies for those who may not be able to afford it.

Lori Stratton, Charitable Gift Advisor for the Salvation Army Prairie Division says economic issues can sometimes make it difficult to get the supplies needed for school, when families have to choose between supplies or food.

The idea behind Pack It Light, Wear It Right is to help kids have all the supplies they need for school and educate them on how to correctly wear bags.

This is the list of items the Salvation Army is looking for:

• 2 inch binders
• Blue/black/red pens
• Coloring pencils
• Crayons
• Duotangs
• Erasers
• Geometry sets
• Glue sticks
• Graph paper
• Highlighters
• Loose leaf
• Markers
• Page dividers
• Pencil cases
• Pencil sharpeners
• Pencils
