A woman who was unhappy to be stopping over in Winnipeg will be staying even longer after she caused a ruckus onboard the plane.

On Sunday evening, a plane travelling from Calgary to Toronto was making a scheduled stop in Winnipeg when a passenger became unruly.

RCMP say a 34-year-old woman from North York began creating a disturbance when she learned of the Winnipeg stopover, causing the crew to alert RCMP at 6:30 p.m. Being met at the gate, RCMP were briefed and then entered the plane during its scheduled stop.

While attempting to disembark the woman from the plane, RCMP says the woman continued to be belligerent to the flight crew and towards the officers but then complied with the request to leave.

While being escorted away, officers say she once again became unruly and belligerent. RCMP placed her under arrest and for Causing a Disturbance.

The 34-year-old remains in Winnipeg in police custody with charges pending. RCMP Manitoba says they are continuing to investigate.
