While it's been a few years since consistent worship events, this Saturday people are invited to come and worship God altogether at the ONE Worship Night in south Winnipeg.

Richard Hale and his wife Krisjana started and run ONE Worship Nights in Winnipeg.

"Both of us have been involved with citywide worship events over the years, back to the Jon Buller days with Hear the Music," says Hale. "Jon moved away to B.C. and it sort of left a void."

At the time Hale was the worship pastor at Calvary Temple. A few years went by as he pondered what to do in terms of bringing a time of worship back.

"There came a time when this started bubbling up in my spirit. It was strong enough that I said, 'We can't wait until all the ducks are in a row or a perfect time. We just have to start something.' That was in February of 2017, we had our first ONE Worship Night."

After two years of monthly praise nights, Hale put a pause on things, which he calls the Biblical term 'Selah.'

"I knew in my spirit that this wasn't meant to stop but to pause for a season. Also, our goal and mission for ONE Worship wasn't really being realized."

Renewing Community-wide Worship

This Saturday, October 29, ONE Worship Night is relaunching to what Hale calls ONE Worship Night 2.0.

"This is a relaunch of the ministry. I can't give you more details because I don't want to give all our news away. You're going to have to come in person to find out."

The evening event will start at 7:00 p.m. and will take place at Bethel Community Church at 430 Lakewood Blvd in the south end of Winnipeg.

"We're really excited about this new season of ONE Worship. We hope to see people come out and worship with us."

Heart Behind it All

"The vision and focus is creating a community of worshippers," says Hale. "I think what we're creating here is a movement. The world doesn't need another band but a movement of people that want to worship God."

The hope for the Hale's is to bring unity to the body of Christ, always referencing their focus verse from John 17:21 which says, "I pray that they will be one, just as you and I are one."

"When different bodies can come together, something special happens when those communities come together from different walks of life, different denominations. Something beautiful happens in unity. That's what Jesus wants."

It's also a special opportunity for leadership.

"We've noticed a lot of people coming to worship nights are worship leaders from other churches," says Kristjana. "If you're not a worship leader at church you don't know what it's like to be on, all the time, and not often get that chance to just be a worshipper. They get the opportunity to be ministered to rather than ministering and I think it's really important."
