The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) was kept busy Tuesday afternoon battling a house fire in the Elmwood area.

The blaze broke out at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday in a one and half storey, single family home in the 500 block of Bowman Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, large flames and smoke could be seen coming from the home.

An offensive interior attack was launched and crews were able to get the fire under control within a half hour.

All occupants of the home were able to escape on their own. One person was transported to hospital in stable condition. Crews also rescued the occupants’ cats and dogs and reunited them with their owners.

The house sustained serious fire, smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
