The Manitoba Government is sharing that there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the province as of Friday morning.

Yesterday, two new cases brought the total number of probable and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province to 293. Today, there are no new cases.

Currently, there are 14 active cases of the illness and no one infected is in hospital.

As the province moves to Phase 2, Manitobans are being reminded to take caution and to practice distancing.

Those visiting other locations throughout the summer such as Winnipeg Beach or the Whiteshell are being asked to avoid local health facilities if possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Lanette Siragusa from Shared Health says the services will be available to seasonal residents if needed but warns that permanent residents will be prioritized.

Those requiring home care are asked to discuss with their provider if home care will be available in the alternative locations chosen before taking the trip.

"As we cautiously move forward into the next phase of our response to the virus, health regions throughout the province must give priority to resume services for their permanent residents," Siragusa from Shared Health says.

Dr. Brent Roussin says the province will be monitoring how Phase 2 goes before making any announcements regarding Phase 3. He says they will loosen more restrictions "as soon as it is safe."
