A man from Beausejour was arrested for impaired driving causing death, following a fatal crash Monday night.

At 7:15 p.m., Selkirk RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the RM of St. Clements. Investigators say an 87-year-old female from Selkirk was travelling north on Provincial Road 206 and had stopped at the intersection of Highway 44. She proceeded onto the highway when she was struck by an eastbound pickup truck, driven by a 62-year-old male from Beausejour.

The woman died on scene.

The male motorist was placed under arrest for impaired driving causing death and transported to hospital for minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital and from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 17, 2021, in Selkirk.

Selkirk RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the Criminal Collision Investigation Team, continues to investigate.
