Canadian Christian musician Matt Maher took home a Juno Award Monday evening.

The artist, singer, songwriter, and worship leader from Newfoundland was awarded during a virtual ceremony celebrating the 2020 Juno Awards.

Maher took home top prize in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year category for his album, The Advent of Christmas.

Other artists nominated for the category included Brooke Nicholls, Fresh I.E., Brian Doerksen, and Dan Bremnes.

In 2016, Maher's Saints and Sinners album was also nominated for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, but did not win. Maher has also been nominated for a Grammy Award eight times in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018. In 2016, the artist received nominations in three awards categories.
