Normally, a performer might be a little annoyed by having their show interrupted.

But Manitoba violinist Rosemary Siemens sounds okay with an interruption she had while playing in Gretna for her Have a Little Faith tour.

Siemens' boyfriend Eli Bennett proposed to her in the middle of her show on Saturday. And it was a fitting proposal for two musicians.

"I got interrupted by one of the singers of my band... and she says, 'Excuse me, Rosemary. We have actually a surprise special guest.' And I all of a sudden hear a saxophone at the end of the hall, and my boyfriend's in a white suit playing I Can't Help Falling in Love, and the rest is history," says Siemens.

Bennett says he wishes he could take credit for the proposal idea.

"Honestly, it was Rosemary's idea. When we had talked about the possibility of getting engaged, she had said, 'I would love to have it happen at a hometown concert in front of friends and family, I would love to have a huge bling ring, and I'd love a viral video.' And guess what, she got all three, I made it happen," says Bennett.

After proposing, Bennett drove back to Winnipeg to play a show at the Pyramid with Vancouver-based Five Alarm Funk.

Siemens, who is from Plum Coulee, Manitoba, is on a western Canada tour with her band, Rosemary & the Sweet Sound Revival.

A videographer filming the performance captured the proposal as it happened. The video is posted on Siemens' Facebook page.
