Manitoba running lower deficit than expected due to reduced project costs

Manitoba's deficit is running slightly lower than expected this fiscal year.

The government says it is largely due to reduced construction costs on hospitals, schools and other projects.

Figures released by the Finance Department show the province is now predicting a 350-million-dollar deficit for the fiscal year that ends in March.

That is down 10 million from the original forecast in last spring's budget.
