A pastor from Manitoba recently tested negative for COVID-19 after returning home from international travel and has shared his experience.

Darrell Dyck is a pastor in Steinbach. He says he returned home from a trip to Bolivia on March 10 and was tested for the Coronavirus on March 16 after he developed a sore throat.

He says the testing process was somewhat uncomfortable.

"The actual test is really simple, it looks like a twizzler stick kind of. It's very small and they shove it up your nose, not a great feeling. At first, it tickles and then you get all the feelings that have to do with sneezing and everything like that. Basically they want to get something from the back of the nostril area where it leads to your mouth and then they take that little sample."

Dyck says they then took that sample and put it in a vial of liquid that would keep any viruses alive as the vial got sent off for testing.

He adds even though the test did not feel great, he would do it again in a heartbeat if he thought there was a chance he had contracted COVID-19.

Fortunately, for the time being, he is Coronavirus free.
