Update: The NDP have blocked the budget from being tabled for the second day in a row

Manitoba's Finance Minister was prevented from unveiling our province's budget on Wednesday and now again on Thursday.

In a statement from the Manitoba Government yesterday, it says the NDP indicated its intent to prevent the budget and budget speech from being considered by the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. The budget was scheduled to be delivered Wednesday afternoon.

Premier Brian Pallister says the level of disrespect shown by the New Democrats is disappointing.

"It's disrespectful and it's fear on display," says Pallister. "They are afraid to debate bills they have not read and they are afraid to discuss a budget they have not seen and they are afraid to have a debate that they know they can not win."

The statement states this is an abuse of parliamentary privilege and suggests it is disrespecting the guests and media who came to the legislature for that reason.

The Conservatives now plan to bring the budget forward for consideration on Friday.

NDP leader Wab Kinew says his part will do everything possible to delay the government from ramming through their harmful legislation.
