Canadian soldiers are being deployed to a northern Manitoba First Nation to provide support during a COVID-19 outbreak.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says troops are due to arrive at the Pauingassi First Nation by tomorrow and will remain until Wednesday.

He says the First Nation asked for help and the soldiers will provide logistical support, transport goods and medical supplies, and do wellness checks.

Manitoba reported 110 new cases of COVID-19 Friday and one new death -- a woman in her 40s from the Winnipeg area.
