A ceiling is being repaired after a Brandon man caused a serious disruption inside a medical facility, including accessing and damaging its ceiling.

A 25-year-old from Brandon is facing Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, two counts of Mischief under $5,000, and Activating a False Fire Alarm charges after an incident in a hospital.

On Monday night, a man began pulling fire alarms at Swan Valley Health Centre without cause. When officers arrived at 8:05 p.m., they found the man in the hospital's lobby. Placing him in handcuffs, he was arrested for Mischief and removed from the hospital.

Once the man was outside, a struggle began.

Officers say the suspect became uncooperative, refusing to comply with the officers. He refused to listen and get into the vehicle.

Police say after a lengthy struggle, the man was placed into the cruiser and brought to a Swan River Detachment cell. Inside the cell, the man was unruly and violent. He is currently in custody and is expected to be later released for court in Swan River.

Police later learnt that the same man snuck into a hospital room, accessed the ceiling, and damaged it.
