A large film shoot coming to Winnipeg this month is looking for up to 2000 paid extras.

The film A Dog's Purpose is billed as a family movie starring Dennis Quaid and based on the New York Times bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron.

Local agency Kari Casting has put out a casting call for extras on Sunday, August 9th, at the Fairmont Hotel.

The film needs extras of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, both male and female, to play townsfolk, students and family members.

Kari Casting says it is especially looking for real police officers, firefighters, clowns, teenage football players and football coaches.

No experience is necessary and extras, if hired, will only be needed for one or two days of filming between August and October.

The casting call runs Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Fairmont Winnipeg.
