One of the lead singers of the Christian band For King & Country is going in for vocal chord surgery and asking for prayers.

"As you might remember, last year I requested prayer for a vocal cord issue. After going on voice rest and a good bit of therapy, most of the issues seemed to clear up. But sadly just a few weeks ago, while working on new music, the concerns and issues all came back," says Luke Smallbone on the band's Facebook page.

At that time Smallbone booked another consultation with his doctor. They came to the conclusion the best way forward would be surgery.

Addressing fans' concerns about him not being able to sing again, Smallbone says, "For one, that’s statistically very unlikely. But secondly and more importantly, I wholeheartedly trust that God wants and knows what’s best for me and my family."

Smallbone and his brother Joel make up the band that is known as For King & Country. Their sister is Christian superstar Rebecca St.James who recently stepped back into the world of music after a long break.

"Faith seems less required when life is 'certain,' but it is a must when our circumstances, relationships or health are unsure. So in the uncertainty of today, I’m practicing faith in Jesus," says Smallbone.

The surgery took place on May 28 at 11:30 AM CST.

"So I once again ask for your prayers, both for me and my family. I look forward to seeing you and singing for you very soon. We will share an update when we have one. Thankful to be on this journey with you."
