A busy route into Winnipeg's downtown will be closed for two weeks.

The City of Winnipeg says the Louise Bridge will temporarily close to all traffic for repairs and maintenance on Monday, June 7 at 6 a.m.

The closure includes the area from Stadacona Street to Higgins Avenue and will be in effect until Monday, June 21 at 3 p.m.

Motorists must use alternate routes while this road closure is in place; pedestrian access will be maintained.

Commuters should be prepared for heavier traffic on routes such as Archibald Street and Henderson Highway and the Disraeli Freeway.

The iconic steel through-truss structure was built in 1910.
