The first of two sentences was handed out today for the torture and murder of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe.

A man convicted of the torture and killing of Reimer-Wiebe has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 20 years.

Kyle Evan Sinkovits had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder.

Two men were previously charged with this crime.

The court heard that Reimer-Wiebe was tortured for three days and killed in June 2020 -- his body was then taken to Portage la Prairie, where it was burned and buried on the edge of a field.

Jonathan Narvey has also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case and is to be sentenced next week.
