Family and friends are gathering at a busy Winnipeg intersection to remember a teen killed earlier this spring.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the intersection of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Fermor Avenue will be closed at 6 p.m. as people memorialize Eishia Hudson.

The 16-year-old girl died near the intersection after being shot by police following a pursuit on Lagimodiere Boulevard. Police allege that Hudson was driving a vehicle involved in a robbery of a liquor store.

Since her death her family has been outspoken in the police's handling of the situation.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area. The WPS says if you are attending the rally to talk with officers on scene to be let through.
