Manitoba Opposition Leader Wab Kinew got a strong backing from his party's convention, held online this weekend.

Delegates were asked whether to open up Kinew's job and hold a leadership race, and 93 per cent voted no.

The vote was part of a mandatory leadership review under the party's constitution.

The NDP elected Kinew leader in 2017 and he led the party to 18 seats in the 2019 election.
