Manitoba RCMP continue to look for and apprehend impaired drivers.

Over the span of six hours on Friday night, officers from various detachments throughout the province located and apprehended five impaired drivers and removed them from our highways.

In Canada, it is a criminal offence to operate a motor vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration greater than 80 mg%. All of the drivers apprehended last night exceeded this number and will now have to appear in court and face the consequences.

It is common knowledge and a proven fact that impaired driving affects one’s ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. All of these impaired drivers were pulled over because officers observed concerns with their driving skills that brought attention to themselves, ie. speeding, improper turns, improper use of signals and careless driving.

“Road safety in Manitoba has been and always will be a priority for the RCMP”, said Sgt. Paul Manaigre of the Manitoba RCMP. “We are committed to eliminating impaired driving and the tragedies that are all too often associated with this high-risk driving behaviour and we encourage anyone who observes this dangerous behaviour to please contact the police.”
