Home ice advantage has been no advantage at all for the Winnipeg Jets during their current six-game homestand.

Mathew Barzal scored twice as the N.Y. Islanders defeated Winnipeg 3-1 Thursday night at Bell MTS Place.

Nikolaj Ehlers gave the Jets a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 13:12 of the first period.

Barzal potted the equalizer with a power play goal of his own 7:41 into the middle frame and then scored the go-ahead goal with just 17 seconds remaining in the second period.

Josh Bailey sealed the deal for New York scoring an empty net goal with 27 seconds left in regulation.

Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov made 32 saves including 15 in the first period.

Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck faced 25 shots.

The Jets fall to 0-3 on the homestand and will face the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

The Oilers have won six of their first seven games and own the best record in the NHL's Western Conference.
