Thompson RCMP is being investigated after an arrest resulted in a man facing serious injuries.

Late Thursday night, at 11:28 p.m., RCMP officers in Thompson were responding to a domestic abuse call. The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) says at the time of RCMP's visit, the 26-year-old man was uncooperative, and a conducted energy weapon was used.

Thompson Fire and Emergency Services were then called to assess the man and transport him to the Thompson General Hospital. He was then cleared and released into police custody but the next day was brought back to the hospital.

At the hospital, the staff determined he had a collapsed lung and admitted him.

IIU was notified the next day. The unit says this is a serious injury, therefore they are mandated to investigate.

They are asking anyone with information or video footage to contact the IIU at 1-844-667-6060.
