Brett Ullman will be in town at Calvary Temple Sunday night, 6:00 pm in the Buntain Chapel to discuss media, faith, and culture.

This discussion will be especially helpful to parents who may be having difficulty navigating the overwhelming world of technology their kids are involved in. Calvary De Jong, the young adults' pastor at Calvary Temple explains "dealing with social media and technology is just a part of our everyday lives and poses some unique challenges for young people and for parents who are trying to give direction to their youth and teens."

He paints a picture of what many parents are dealing with today. "They bought a cell phone for their ten or twelve-year-old because they want to be in contact but maybe they're finding they're having a hard time regulating when that phone is being used or even keeping tabs on what conversations are happening and what kind of media is being accessed." De Jong expressed that this event should be especially helpful for parents looking for strategies and how to deal with these issues. Youth also have many struggles to navigate in this technology-driven culture. De Jong states, "a lot of students see their friends lives on Facebook or Instagram but that's a filtered version. There were twenty photos taken and only the perfect one was curated for display and so it kind of creates a false sense of what everybody else's life is like and so just trying to be grounded, that's important."

The event is free and will be about 90 minutes long.
