Crews have started demolishing the grain elevator in La Salle, Manitoba.

The elevator has been an important part of the area since it was originally built in 1915.

Maurice Cormier's great grandfather built the elevator. Cormier says he sold it to N.M. Paterson, now known as Paterson Grain.

Paterson then rebuilt the structure in 1926.

Cormier says the people who are tearing down the grain elevator have told him they can get anything he wants from the site for him to keep.
