A shocking announcement from Hillsong singer-songwriter Marty Sampson has left fans and believers devastated.

In a post that has since been deleted, Sampson recently shared with his online followers that he feels as if he is losing his faith.

"Time for some real talk... I'm genuinely losing my faith," Sampson began, "and it doesn't bother me."

What does bother him now is "nothing. I am so happy now, so at peace with the world, it's crazy," wrote the songwriter.

He then launched into what he called a "soapbox moment," taking a chance to share with his followers a some of the reasoning behind his shift in thought away from faith.

"How many preachers fall? Many. No one talks about it. How many miracles happen? Not many. No one talks about it. Why is the Bible full of contradictions? No one talks about it. How can God be love yet send [four] billion people to a place, all coz (sic) they don't believe. No one talks about it."

Sampson's reluctance to accept what he calls contradictions comes on the heels of wanting what he calls "genuine truth.

"I've never been about living my life for others. All I know is what's true to me right now, and Christianity just seems to me like another religion at this point."

The singer-songwriter has written or co-written over 90 songs for Hillsong Worship, Hillsong United, and Hillsong Young & Free, among other artists, and has also performed with the worship band. Most recently, Sampson co-wrote the song "Jesus Loves Me" for the 2018 Hillsong Young & Free Album, III, and assisted with three songs in Hillsong Worship's 2018 album, There Is More.

Sampson's announcement comes just two weeks after a similar decision shared online by evangelical preacher and author Joshua Harris.

He concludes with wishing general wellbeing to those who read his words.

"Love and forgive absolutely. Be kind absolutely. Be generous and do good to others absolutely," says the songwriter.

"Some things are good no matter what you believe."
