A GoFundMe page has been set up to provide financial aid for an international student who was attacked at a Winnipeg bus shelter late last month.

The 17-year-old from India had only been in Canada for less than a month when he was attacked in a bus shelter at Portage Place on January 23rd.

The GoFundMe, set up by the company Ventura and the University of Manitoba Indian Students Association, seeks to raise $5,000.

According to the page, the money raised will go to the student, to reduce financial burdens for food, school, and getting around. A small portion will also go to the U of M Indian Students Association, to help new students in Winnipeg settle in.

"We want as many people like this young man to come here and be a part of this great City. People should know this is a caring place, filled with wonderful people who look after eachother. We are stronger together," says the webpage.
