The Winnipeg Goldeyes have made it to the Championship Final for the second year in a row, and starting tonight, they go for two straight wins.

The American Association Championship Final starts tonight in Kansas as the Goldeyes take on the Wichita Wignuts. This will be the second straight year that the teams have met in the final and the third time in the past six years. The Goldeyes have won all three meetings.

The Wingnuts have been to the finals five times that same span and are ready to avenge last years' home field loss.

"We've been here before, we know what the team can do and we're eager to see them get out there and perform," said Regan Katz, Vice President of the Goldeyes.

Even though the team won the championship last year, Katz says the only regret was that they couldn't win on their home field, something they have a chance to do this year.

"That's really what the guys were looking forward to the most," he said.

Pitching will be the match-up to watch during the series, according to Katz.

"Both [teams] have all kinds of hitting records," he said. "But it really comes down to the pitchers."

Winnipeg won the season series against the Wingnuts, taking five of the nine games played and scoring 25 runs over the past two contests against them.

The Goldeyes play in Witchita tonight and tomorrow before coming back to Winnipeg for game three and if needed, game four and game five. Those games take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Shaw Park.
