Winnipeg's baseball team is gearing up to welcome its first fans back.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes will be playing its first home game of the season Tuesday evening, a long-awaited moment for General Manger Andrew Collier.

"It is going to be great tonight seeing Goldeyes at home on our home field for the first time in a very long time," Collier says.

The last time the team played at home was on September 2, 2019. The team spent time in Fargo, North Dakota and recently in Jackson, Tennessee.

"Just in some brief conversations with some of the players yesterday, they are very fired up about playing at Shaw Park. Some of them have played here before whether it was for the goldeyes or visiting teams, so they spread the word to guys who have never been to Winnipeg or Shaw Park and letting them know what a special experience it is."

Collier says stands will be more than half-filled and is expecting a warm welcome when they get up to the plate.

"We have just got the greatest fans," Collier says. "Just a very loyal fan base. They love coming out to the ballpark."

The General Manager says fans can expect "some really good baseball" to finish off the 19 home games this season. He says fans are "in for a treat."
