In Canada, it's pretty easy to take access to a Bible for granted, but for others around the globe, it's a hard to get item.

"There are so many people, in so many countries, that don't have a Bible of their own. In fact, they don't even have access to one," says Paul Richardson, President of Bible League Canada (BLC).

That's why BLC has launched a new initiative called Give a Bible.

"It's all about placing a copy of God's Word, in the local language, in the local hands, by the local people. [Then] we'll see something incredible happen as God transforms hearts."

It costs just $5.00 to send a Bible around the globe through the initiative, thanks in large part to the hard work of BLC. "We print Bibles at such a large scale that we can print them very cheaply. One of our suppliers in Asia can print 1.2 million pages per hour. We'll print a whole shipping container at once, and then bring it into the country."

Richardson stresses that it's about partnering with what he calls "local champions" for the Word of God. "When we can put those inexpensive Scriptures into the hands of local champions, they are so hungry to get it into the hands of their country-folk."
