Gas prices have fallen an average of 9.0 c/L in Winnipeg over the weekend, but they could rise again.

Gas prices shot up over $1.00/L after Hurricane Harvey, but have now dropped back under a loonie. How long they stay there is hard to say.

"As hurricanes become the norm until November, gas prices are expected to remain volatile and even unpredictable as the path of Jose, Marie and Lee appear most uncertain," said Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy. "Although gas prices are likely to return to their pre-Harvey levels further into the week, the latter half may bring a few unpleasant surprises at the pumps."

Monday or Tuesday, then, could be a good time to fill up the family vehicle. The average price in Winnipeg on Monday morning is 94.5 c/L.

Manitoba, as a whole, continues to have the cheapest gas in the country. The province-wide average cost is 100.2 c/L.
