Manitobans looking to soak up the sun this weekend can visit provincial parks for free.

Starting Friday, provincial park access will be free. This does not include overnight camping.

Starting Saturday, people can fish without a licence, following the conservation licence limit of fish.

“There is no better way to enjoy a Manitoba weekend than by visiting a provincial park," Climate Minister Sarah Guillemard says in a Thursday statement.

The free family fishing and provincial park access will end Sunday night.

This weekend will also be the first time in months where people outside of households can gather under the Public Health Orders. Groups of five or fewer can gather in public spaces outdoors, as of Saturday morning.

“This has been a tough year, and while there may still be some public health restrictions, it’s a great opportunity to spend time together with members of your household and carefully explore Manitoba’s abundant fisheries and parks," Agriculture and Resource Development Minister Blaine Pedersen says.

Guillemard is asking people to follow the health orders.
