A lockdown took place Friday after threats were made against a school in southern Manitoba.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after police in Manitoba investigated threats on social media towards the Shevchenko School in Vita, MB that allegedly came from a former student.

RCMP say they immediately placed the school on lockdown, noting it was hosting a basketball game at the time on Friday night.

Police say the suspect - and a weapon - were eventually located.

The suspect faces weapons and threatening charges.
