Festival du Voyageur will be taking place online this year, with the organization encouraging participants to join activities at home.

Lor Brand is the Marketing and Communications Coordinator with the Festival du Voyageur.

"This will be our 52nd year. This will be our first year that we don't actually have people in the park to celebrate in person," says Brand.

Festival du Voyageur will run from February 12-21 with eight days of different musical acts.

"It's tough for everyone but we're excited about the programming going on this year and making the best of it."

Preparation has already begun.

"So we will be having sculptures all throughout the city. There are more than we've had in at least a dozen years. Everyone wants to bring that Festival spirit throughout the entire city," she says.

They have over 20 snow sculptures being worked on right now around Winnipeg.

"We have a whole series of videos that are 'How to Festival' at home, which includes things like how to build a snow sculpture in your front yard. How to build instruments with your kids and how to create some traditional foods. We also have a video series on modern Metis culture."

The organization will also be offering things that people can purchase and then take home to complete or enjoy.

"We'll have meal take-home kits from Promenade Cafe," which include classic French recipes often served at the Festival.

"We like to think that we're bringing Voyageur Park into people's homes," says Brand.
