An Arctic ridge of high pressure has finally left the province of Manitoba, making way for above seasonal temperatures to move in for the weekend.

After a week of windchills hovering between -30 and -40 throughout Manitoba, daytime highs are expected to be closer to the average for this time of year on Thursday. In Winnipeg, the daytime high is expected to be -14, with a windchill of -19 in the afternoon.

Beginning on Friday, and lasting into the start of next week, daytime highs and lows are expected to be well above the seasonal average of -12, thanks to lots of cloud cover.

Friday's high is currently forecasted to be -9, and then -6 on Saturday, before another day of -9 on Sunday.

Students heading back to school on Monday and Tuesday will have more enjoyable bus rides with daytime highs of -7 and -6 respectively.
