Upper Deck released their Series Two card set, which includes a rookie card of Patrik Laine. It's the talk of card shops across Winnipeg, but at one Elmwood store, the talking can go much deeper.

Mike Bergmann, owner of Lower Level Sports Cards & Collectibles, loves his store and his cards. But more than that, he loves the people that walk through his door. And since the release of Upper Deck's Series Two set, a lot of people have been knocking at that door and calling his store wondering if he has a Patrik Laine 'Young Guns' rookie card, currently worth anywhere between $150-$250.

"Since he got drafted, people want Patrik Laine," Bergmann said. "People want this card." The card just came out, so the price is fluxuating quite a bit, but as long as Laine continutes to play the way he is, the price will continue to climb.

Bergmann also said the rest of the Winnipeg Jets are getting popular as well, especially rookie cards. Josh Morrissey, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jacob Trouba and Mark Scheifele are all popular. Scheifele, in particular, got a boost from Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock when he said that Scheifele was one of the best centers in the league.

More important than all the cards in the store, however, are the people who walk in. "Every customer that comes in my store, ultimately, I want them to know Jesus Christ," Bergmann said. "If I know their name, I pray for them. In the evening when I think of them, I pray for them."

Bergmann is passionate about seeing every person who walks into his store someday walking into the kingdom of heaven. "It's more than just cards here. This is just cardboard, treasures on earth pass away. What happens with the soul is eternal," Bergmann believes. His hope is that people come in to connect with cards and eventually connect with him. One day, he hopes they will also connect with God.

Seeing Jesus working in the store is what Bergmann wants. "My dream still is to see people come in here and through those conversations, they ask 'how can I have a relationship with Jesus?'"

Of course, it is still a card store, and Bergmann still loves cards. When asked what he would want if he could have any card in the world, he said a 1952 Mickey Mantle. While it's not his rookie card, it's still incredibly valuable. If you have one, you might have a buyer at Lower Level Sports Cards & Collectibles. You will definitely have a friend there.
