The Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party has street closures and buses rerouted Tuesday evening in anticipation of playoff hockey. 

The party hosted by the city of Winnipeg allows for 5,000 additional fans on the streets right outside the Canada Life Centre during the playoff games hosted by the Jets. 

The following streets will be closed:

  • Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue:
    Tuesday, April 23 at 9 a.m. until Wednesday, April 24 at approximately 3 a.m.
  • Graham Avenue in both directions between Hargrave Street and Smith Street:
    Tuesday, April 23 from 9 a.m. until Wednesday, April 24 at approximately 1 a.m.

On top of the street closures, the following sidewalks will be closed, starting at noon on Tuesday:

  • Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue
  • North side of Graham Avenue between Hargrave Street and Smith Street

Winnipeg Transit buses will be rerouted off of Graham Avenue between Kennedy and Smith starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 with regular service being restored for Wednesday, April 24.

Buses will be unable to stop for passengers during the detour. To help passengers who wish to catch buses affected by the reroutes, people are encouraged to stop at the following intersections:

  • Graham Avenue and Vaughn Street
  • Graham Avenue and Fort Street
  • Donald Street and Ellice Avenue
  • Donald Street and York Avenue

During the reroutes, the Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone on southbound Donald Street at Graham Avenue will be temporarily relocated to eastbound Portage Avenue next to the Radisson Hotel. The Millennium Library Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be temporarily relocated to eastbound front driveway of the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters, and the City Place Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be relocated to northbound Hargrave Street on the north side of St. Mary Avenue.

The Winnipeg Jets face the Colorado Avalanche in round 1, game 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Canada Life Centre with the puck drop at 8:30 p.m.
