After postponing due to COVID-19, a standing hearing will be taking place to determine who can participate in the inquest into the death of Chad Williams. 

On the evening of January 11, 2019, Chad Williams was approached by members of the Winnipeg Police Service and was chased on foot.

The Winnipeg Police Services says that at the end of the chase, Williams produced a weapon and was then shot by police.

Officers then began resuscitation efforts while waiting for Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services to arrive, taking Williams to the Health Sciences Centre.

Williams died in the hospital early the next morning.
