Update 8:20 a.m.: Manitoba Infrastructure sent out a notice at 8:15 a.m. saying that the westbound lanes are closed to all traffic, from three kilometres east of Highway 207 to Highway 207 (Deacon's Corner).

No estimate on time of reopening has been given at this time.

Traffic is at a standstill for westbound traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Winnipeg on Monday morning, and listeners report it's due to a serious collision.

Reports of large delays started coming into the station around 7:15 a.m. Jason called in and said the collision is a few kilometres east of Deacon's Corner.

Emergency vehicles are in the area, and personnel are working on at least one vehicle.

Other callers have said that the area took over 20 minutes to get through.

Motorists are reminded to be patient and use caution in the area. Some callers reported that commuters were trying to get past the line-up by driving down the shoulder of the highway. Emergency personnel and vehicles are on the shoulders of the highway, and thick fog is reducing visibility, making for a dangerous combination.

More to come.
