A Christian university in Winnipeg has released a statement saying its Shaftesbury campus has had a confirmed case of COVID-19.

In a statement sent by Canadian Mennonite University to staff and students, they say on November 2 between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. there was an individual on campus with COVID-19.

"This is a low-risk situation with no close contacts identified at CMU. No one is required to self-isolate from this exposure," the school says in a statement.

The school says the person followed its COVID-19 protocols.

They are asking people to continue to wash their hands regularly, wear a mask, distance themselves from others, and to stay home when ill.

CMU is currently conducting its classes online while Winnipeg is under the Red level of the Pandemic Response System. They will reevaluate this method on Thursday.

"We are all in this pandemic together. The CMU community is doing fantastic work, and it is so appreciated—thank you," the school says.
