The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is in the running to be named Canada's top attraction.

The CMHR has been nominated for USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice travel awards. The category? Top Canadian attraction.

The nominees were chosen from a panel of six prominent Canadian travel writers and social media influencers. It's up against some heavyweights in terms of Canadian destinations, including Niagara Falls, Stanley Park, and Peggy's Cove.

Matthew McRae is a spokeperson for the museum. He says Winnipeg is going through a Renaissance.

"Canada's realizing more and more -- and the world is realizing more and more -- that Winnipeg is an amazing place to visit... so I think we're seeing a shift here, and it's just an honour to be part of it and to help create this amazing experience here in Winnipeg that people are having when they come."

Besides the museum's nomination, Winnipeg has also been nominated in the top Canadian destination category, and Riding Mountain is nominated for best national park. Manitoba's also got representation in the best cottage region category.

Winners will be chosen through online voting, which the CMHR is encouraging people to do. Voting closes on Monday, June 19 at 11am Manitoba time.
