City of Winnipeg's Emergency Operations Centre Manager Jason Shaw is sharing that the city "fully supports" the province's decision to declare a State of Emergency.

At this time, the city will not be announcing new regulations or guidelines after today's announcement from the province.

"There is no need to panic or worry that you will not receive City of Winnipeg essential services," Shaw says.

The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Operations Centre is taking the COVID-19 pandemic as a "day by day, hour to hour situation" and is assessing how they will work with the province in regards to COVID-19.

"The province has taken very good and proactive steps to protect Manitobans and Winnipeggers," Shaw says. "We are happy they did that."

Shaw is reminding the public that there is no shortage of soap and says people should preference washing their hands over using hand sanitizer.
