The City of Winnipeg has announced the 2023 Winter Leisure Guide is now available for viewing online for the public to plan their winter activities.

Until registration opens on Tuesday, December 13 at 8:00 a.m., Winnipeggers can go online to view this year's Winter Leisure Guide, Leisure Guide Skating brochure, and the Leisure Guide Swimming brochure. Registration opens for non-Winnipeg residents on Thursday, December 15 at 8:00 a.m.

There is programming available for children, teens, adults, seniors, individuals and families or groups, ranging from a wide-variety of recreational activities.

The city is also notifying the public of changes that are being applied to the 2023 season. Lessons are transitioning from the Canadian Red Cross to the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life Program. To help ease residents into the transition, a transition chart has been created that shows which Swim for Life level to register for based on the previous Red Cross levels.

For those who participated in swimming lessons during Fall 2022, the Swim for Life level will be shown in their report card.

Registration can be completed by going online, calling 311, or visiting in person registration locations—395 Main St., Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (French service available), or Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, 999 Sargent Ave., on December 13 only between 8 a.m. – noon.

Registration can also be done at any indoor City pool during regular operating hours (French service is available at Bonivital Pool and Margaret Grant Pool).

The city is encouraging those using the online registration option to check if they are able to successfully log in to their account before registration begins. For anyone experiencing troubling logging in, please call 311.

There are video tutorials on how to create an account, how to add a family member, how to search for an activity, how to use the new wishlist feature, and how to register for an activity.

If still unsure which level to register for swimming lessons, please contact 311, or visit the nearest local pool to arrange a skills assessment (public admission fees and entry requirements apply).
