A Chicago rapper says that his wife's decision to get baptized and become celibate for a time saved his life.

Chancellor Jonathan Bennett, better known to the world as Chance the Rapper, revealed in a Queen Radio interview with Nicki Minaj that his wife's faith has played a pivotal role in recent months.

The musician recently married Kirsten Corley, and told Minaj that his wife had "saved" him by remaining celibate during a time the couple was separated prior to their marriage, reports the Christian Post.

He speaks about the incident in his song, "We Go High," sharing that he never had truly understood where his strength came from until his wife made faith a priority.

It changed my life, for real. Now I know exactly where my strength comes from,” said Bennett.

His commitment to faith followed the release of his album Colouring Book. “You’re never fully, fully sanctified, so I had to keep figuring it out," Bennett explained. I had to do the Grammy's by myself. I had to do a lot by myself. Then when my girl was gracious enough to have me back, it changed my whole life.”

After an especially difficult time, Bennett says he knows who to turn to when he can't handle things himself. "I really had to get down on [my] knees and be like, 'I know I can't solve this problem by myself.' So I'm here right now happier than I ever been.”

Bennett and Corley share a three-year-old daughter and are currently expecting.
