Winnipeg Police are looking to find the owner of a large sum of cash recently found at a local thrift store.

Jay Murray, public information officer for the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says that Police were recently contacted regarding an amount of money found by an employee at a thrift store on Pembina Highway.

He says the employee had located the money in some items that had been brought to the thrift store.

"We're now turning to the public in an appeal to see if anyone knows who that owner may be so we can get that money back to them," said Murray.

The officer also said Police cannot currently reveal the total dollar amount found but did disclose that it was a "significant amount of cash."

The thrift store where the money was found is located off Pembina, in the southwest area of Winnipeg.
