Casio Grider is back after a championship win and an eventful offseason and is ready to get on the field.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Wichita Wingnuts to win the American Association championship last season. Despite some new faces on the team, Grider says they are ready to go again.

"You always want to come in humble, you don't want to come in like on top of the world, but you feel like it," the Goldeyes' second baseman said. "Good group of guys."

Grider said that he has been ready to go for a while. The good news is the Goldeyes exhibition schedule starts tomorrow at Shaw Park. They will take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 6:00 p.m.

Even though Grider is ready for the off-season to be over, doesn't mean it wasn't incredible. Grider got married to his girlfriend who has come back to Winnipeg with him this year. He also worked at a group home instead of taking small jobs to make some money.

"I was actually a mentor at a group home," Grider said. "I actually saved one soul too."

Grider was very quick to pass off the credit to God though. "No big ups to me, it's all God. But that was one of the highlights of my off-season."

His goal for the season is to enjoy baseball. "During my career I've really focused on baseball, baseball, baseball.

"I want to enjoy playing for once and enjoy being in the moment."

As for his faith journey, Grider says he's going to continue to live it out with his team and on the field.

"I just live how God wants me to and you'll see the fruits of my spirit."
