An officer was injected with an unknown substance by a needle while responding to a call on Thursday evening.

The officer was taken to the Brandon Reginal Health Centre. The officer has been released from the hospital and is undergoing treatment for exposure to potentially hazardous fluids.

At 8:05 p.m. the officer responded to a call of a residential disturbance. The officer heard screaming coming from the house and entered, where he was then attacked. A 25-yer-old female stabbed the officer with an unknown substance in the head, telling others in the house to kill the officer.

The police officer controlled the suspect on his own until more help arrived and took the women into custody.
